Life-Changing Education That Can Help You Change Lives.

At the University of Pittsburgh School of Education we put the emphasis on you, the student. Whether you’re an undergrad interested in becoming a teacher, or a professional looking to advance your career or become an administrator, we have the programs to help achieve your goals. We are truly committed to fostering the next generation of successful educators by understanding the social role of education in society.

The school just entered its second century, so we know a few things about education. We feature a world-renowned faculty, a unique content specific and inquiry-based curriculum, and a huge alumni network that includes two-thirds of the superintendents in Western PA. Others also agree; in fact, U.S. News & World Report ranks us 24th in the nation among schools of education.

So take a look around, ask a question, apply online, and view our Future Students and Current Students pages to discover what program best aligns with your goals.

Ali Nabavian is completing his MAT while teaching at the Falk School. He explains that his favorite part of teaching thus far is when he has a “good lesson and the kids understand the majority of ideas discussed, or when you’re having a good conversation and they reference something previously learned in my class.”

225 Years of Pitt

Following the School of Education’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2011, the University of Pittsburgh will be celebrating 225 years of ‘Building Better Lives’ throughout 2012 at various events and functions. Pitt has developed a Web site dedicated to the most notable events and accomplishments in the school’s storied history, offering a steady stream of new stories and celebration highlights during the year.

Research

Improvements in schools, improvements in health, improvements in communities – thoughtful, in-depth research is at the heart of these positive developments. School of Education faculty are involved in a wide range of research experiences that offer plentiful opportunities for student collaborations.
