Alissa Clendenen joined the Dean's Office staff in the School of Education in May 2017 as the Director of Marketing Communications. She brings nearly 15 years of experience in higher education marketing and communications to her position, previously working primarily in college athletics. In her role, Clendenen manages the school's website and social media, promotes SOE programs internally and externally, guides the brand management, and produces all marketing and communications creative content and collateral.
She most recently spent four years at Penn State as the Associate Director of Strategic Communications, guiding media and public relations efforts for the men's basketball team and staff. As one of three women among all Power Five conference schools in that position, Clendenen handled the website, social media, graphic design, sports information, publicity and outreach efforts for the Nittany Lion program.
She previously spent time in similar positions at Ohio State, University of Connecticut, and Duke. Clendenen is the recipient of multiple publications design awards, including three-consecutive Best in the Nation honors.
A product of Salisbury, Maryland, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in public relations.
