Veronica Sardegna conducts research on second language acquisition and teacher education with a focus on achieving communicative and teaching effectiveness. Grounded in self-regulation and sociocultural theories of learning, she investigates the effects of instructional, mediational, contextual, social, and individual learner variables on the development of English learners’ writing and speaking/pronunciation skills, and on facilitating foreign language teachers’ and learners’ intercultural communicative competence through telecollaboration. She also examines the affordances of instructional and computer-mediated technology for language and intercultural learning. She employs discourse analytic approaches and mixed methods research designs for these investigations.
